|Location awareness is very important because when you know in which radio cell a user is located and you combine that with the rich intelligence and packet logic, then you can do very efficient congestion management and you can also do various types of traffic steering and root cause analysis. When our customer has issues it's very easy to detect and find out what is root of this issue.|
|Location is also important for marketing efforts like what are the movement patterns of people, where are they moving to and from. How are they moving? Are then on a train? Are they walking? Are they running? What applications do people typically use when they're out running or when they are in an airport, for instance. All those things are location based.
What should the operator do around planning their networks based on how applications are used on the go or in particular areas an so on. Location just touches everything.

Mobile operators currently face the challenge of providing real-time location and quality of service information in a cost-effective manner to be able to effectively deliver higher quality mobile broadband services.
So how can knowing which cell tower a subscriber is connected to the network help operators provide better service to their customers?
We spoke to Procera's Director of Mobile Research, Henrik Dam and to CTO, Alexander Haväng on the importance of Location Awareness for operators and how this can help subscribers have a great mobile experience.
