Recently, we were excited to learn that we were shortlisted in the in Network Management Excellence category for the 2015 telecoms.com Awards. Network Management, you say? Wasn’t ScoreCard about Subscriber Experience?
Yes and Yes. The new generation of Network Management tools has to be both customer aware to understand the impact on the subscriber and network aware to understand what the operators are able to do about it. And that’s exactly what ScoreCard does.
ScoreCard rates the quality that a network is capable of delivering and shows that capability in easy to understand application categories, which subscribers actually care about. Network Management engineers can see exactly what quality their network delivers for streaming video, social media or voice applications, for example.
But it’s all about action.Network Management engineers need to understand what is causing the quality degradations to be able to do something about it. This is why score perspectives, the engine underneath ScoreCard, is measuring all traffic, all the time, for all subscribers. Data is enriched with metadata to be able to aggregate results on many different dimensions. If you are a mobile operator, it can show the scores per cell ID, per subscriber tier, per handset vendor, and per model. If you provide Wi-Fi services, ScoreCard can break down your network per access point, per SSID, per vendor, per region, etc. The actionability is in the power of having the lowest granularity of measurement relevant to be able to make maximum amount of combination aggregations that aid in isolating the problem. Aggregation per cell shows if one cell is deviating for application X compared to the others. Aggregation per topology can show if traffic through one node is significantly worse than the traffic through others. And in a virtualized network world, understanding the quality per virtual “node” is more important than ever. That is why I am so excited about ScoreCard and we are glad telecoms.com is as well.
We created 3 videos to show how ScoreCard works. We hope you enjoy them! If you want to know more, please check out our 30 minute Webinar Demo.
Check out our 3 use-case videos:
#1: Mobile Location Focus
How to determine if it’s congestion in the RF or in the Backhaul causing a bad experience.
#2: Subscriber Tier Focus
How to use Subscriber Tier Perspective to understand video quality is poor for a specific tier.
#3: Network Topology Focus
Topology Perspective revealing an imperfect load-balancing configuration is causing packet loss in one area of the network.
