I’m proud that Procera Networks, the company I work for, will celebrate Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGEday) on Thursday March 26th. The purpose of IGE Day is to motivate young girls to consider future career paths in different engineering fields. All over the world the percentage of women working in the engineering field is very low. IGE Day hopes to influence that statistic and start to help increase the number of women entering the engineering and technology career fields.

This is the second year (see last year's blog here) Procera is participating in IGE Day and events are organized in our Swedish offices in Malmö and Varberg. We have invited young girls to visit our offices to test programming activities and play with the latest technology alongside Procera's amazing engineers. It’s an opportunity for our employees to show young girls how awesome and fun engineering can be!
I have been a QA Engineer at Procera since 2013. My work involves analyzing network traffic for different web applications and understanding the traffic patterns to then identify these applications. Every day I get a chance to learn about how applications communicate over the network. Each day I am exposed to new experiences and have the opportunity to learn new things. I work with awesome people who are energetic, supportive, sincere and full of fun. I'm lucky to work with such helpful and fun people in the technology field!
I have heard that many women face challenges in the tech industry, but so far (this is my first job) my experience has been only positive! If sharing my positive experience encourages even one young woman to consider joining the tech industry, that is a big win for me personally!
