ETSI NFV Proof of Concept at NFV World Congress
Karl: Hi, I'm Karl. I am architecture for NFV Networks. We're here at the San Jose on the NFV World Congress. Today I will be showing you our N F V, P O C that's number 32 if you wanted to look that up afterwards. Basically, what we have is these partners coming together doing this P O C. Procera providing the P C F functionality. Openet providing O C S and P C R F. We have Cobham providing traffic innovation. So they run orchestration. Red Hat is providing OpenStack and platform. Intel is providing the hardware. Karl: The phase one of this P O C which was showcased at NBC is looking like this. We have the P C F integrated towards the P C R F using G X. We have this running on top of the infrastructure provided by Red Hat info. TeraVM product by Cobham providing traffic generation through the data plan off the P C F. On the orchestration side we have Amartus providing orchestration in the phase to the three VNF managers; the Openet one and the one from Procera. It also integrates with the OpenStack with WIN to basically start up the machines, shut them down, and scale them out. One of the used cases we showed at this time or at the MWC was to have one load for the VNF's reach a certain threshold; the VNF manager asks or monitors this and triggers a scale out to add more machines. Triggering the orchestration unit to burn out and allocate resources, and then start out new machines. Starting out an additional machine. For the Phase 2 which we are showcasing here at NFV World Congress in San Jose, we have added the functionality of the scale out. Basically, having multiple services from the whole scenario. All of the gray box we have it in duplicate versions which allows you to create a click on your classical. Maybe a classical model network having policy charging there. Then having a similar one for, In our scenario, we're doing for IoT, Internet for Things. So have a separate one running for that. Karl: More differences we have add in OCS; it integrates over GY to this PCF. A view of the network is basically like this. This is how the network on a data plan looks. We have multiple data plans running with traffic coming through the PRE which is part of the PCF in Procera. PacketLogic real-time enforcement and we have the PacketLogic subscriber manager so those two form the PCF. We integrate to the PCRF.
At NFV World Congress in San Jose Procera showcased an ETSI NFV proof of concept demonstration of real-time OSS/BSS running on a virtualized environment in booth #32. It show how Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) concepts can be applied to OSS/BSS to deliver on the business benefits and improved customer experience that NFV promises, brought by increased system agility, faster time to market, reduced TCO, increased elasticity and greater service availability. This proof of concept brings together a number of industry leaders in virtualized OSS/BSS including Openet, Procera and Amartus, working with OpenStack leader Red Hat, and leading computing innovation company Intel.
