I spent last week immersed in the latest and greatest in mobile at the CTIA Super Mobility 2015 show in Las Vegas. Attending CTIA is like getting to go to several different shows under one roof – where wearables, small cells, towers, accessories, and network vendors all coexist – not quite at the scale of Mobile World Congress, but a smaller version. Some interesting facts that were promoted at the event for statistics on Mobile (check out my Twitter page to see them - https://twitter.com/cam_cullen):
I was on a panel where we talked about one of the hot topics in the telecom space – Big Data. I shared the stage with OpenSignal, Syniverse, and Yahoo, and we all brought different angles and opinions on how Big Data can help mobile operators. All of the panelists are big believers in the power of Big Data to help mobile operators serve their customers better. The panel agreed that operators are struggling to sometimes recognize the value of their data, and one of the biggest challenges is to find the right data scientists to take advantage of the “nuggets of gold” that allow them to monetize their network better or enhance their subscriber experience.
My position representing Procera is that we provide “High Resolution” data that is focused on the subscriber experience delivered to end users. This includes not only traditional “Deep Packet Inspection (DPI)” data, but subscriber-specific data like service plan, device, and location that provide the context needed for the data to be truly useful to the operator. We also have a unique solution called ScoreCard that provides specific Experience scores for each subscriber to the operator based on the real experience delivered to subscribers for the applications and way that they use on the network – video, web, voice, gaming, messaging, and upload/download. See the video below for an example of a congestion use case for a mobile network.
If you are a mobile operator and are seeking better insights into your subscribers – contact Procera and we can give you better data on what experience your network is delivering to your subscribers.
