Operators have had assurance-reporting tools for ages. Typically they present an endless list of KPIs that have lost meaning to the reader. Procera created ScoreCard to change this and provide a solution that simply reports the quality that your network is capable of delivering, in categories that subscribers understand.
But it’s not much use to only report these metrics; operators need to be able to take any corrective actions needed to improve their networks. That is why we have produced a use case video series explaining what information operators can get out of the ScoreCard reports and how they can take action on these reports. We show you how operators can break down their network score, by Location, Topology, Subscriber Plan, Device or Modem model.
In this first video we’ll explain how ScoreCard is able to detect if an operator has problems in their Radio Access Network or in their Backhaul Network towards the base-stations. Both problems will result in a poor subscriber experience, but the root-cause of each problem is different. One scenario is identified by an increase in latency on the overall traffic; the other in packet loss – or more precisely, retransmissions from the source. Understanding these differences in the network operations center, when reported at a granular level, is key to fixing the issues quickly. The trouble-tickets will go to the right team and they will be much more descriptive about the problem and where it occurs.
Network faults will always occur and capacity will be overbooked - That’s just the economics of the consumer broadband game. But with ScoreCard, faults can be identified pro-actively and be fixed sooner than they are today, with the right information available. This will also help operators know where to invest to increase network capacity as operators understand the impact that proper network investment will make to their subscribers’ experience. #ExperienceFirst

|Hey operators, Procera here. We recently launched ScoreCard, the solution that changes the way broadband quality is measured and rated because it's not only speed that matters. ScoreCard rates the quality your network is capable of delivering with a score from A to F, in 7 categories that matter to subscribers. All traffic is monitored all the time as strategic points in the network. Score perspectives are broken down by device, location, and network node, providing actionable insights into your network's performance. Take a frequent social media user on a mobile phone waiting a long time for their Facebook updates to appear. Viewing the score by location highlights one poorly performing cell. Closer inspection shows far higher latency than others. Dropped packets are being re-transmitted pointing to congestion in the RF. However, if the cell had shown significant packet loss because of re-transmission by the end points, that would indicate the black haul link is the problem. ScoreCard enables operators to see these imperfections in their network. With actionable insights at your fingertips, ScoreCard gives operators the power to make informed decisions about how to deliver an improved subscriber experience and manage subscriber expectations.
