Bakutel 2014 is over and it’s been a great first participation for Procera at this yearly show in Baku, Azerbaijan also called “the land of fire”. The show had an international presence with exhibitors from the United States, Canada and the Baltic States among others.
The three main themes for this year were:
- Smart homes
Azerbaijan has 9.5 million inhabitants and 11 million mobile lines. They are clearly seeing the need for 4G build out to further strengthen mobile internet speed and the ever growing need for mobile data services. Fixed Internet penetration is very low in comparison to mobile, with a penetration of about 32%.
All three major mobile operators have plans for 4G roll out during the next year with Azercell (owned by TeliaSonera) leading the quest with a 4G trial running at the moment. Azercell presented new solutions for smart homes making it possible to control temperature, gas leakage and lights on your smart phone.
At Bakutel, the Procera crew demonstrated our strategic initiatives around RAN Perspectives and Video Insights and got very good feedback from operators seeing a need for these capabilities both for 3G and 4G. The RAN Perspectives solution is a groundbreaking service that gives network operators the power to transform their customer’s experience using real-time updates from any customer’s SIM-enabled mobile device.
The capability to control congestion all the way out to the RAN, and being able to enforce policies on it, clearly intrigued our visitors.
Business Intelligence on Video was another hot topic at the show where Procera presented new initiatives for analyzing and controlling video. This category is growing exponentially on all networks independently of access technology. Video Perspectives combines Procera’s rich subscriber experience intelligence with the most relevant video intelligence to deliver a complete video analytics solution.
Our talented Solutions Engineer Alexander also showed some great and super fast traffic management skills finishing third in the trade show go-cart competition. As you can understand it was a fantastic day for the Procera team in Baku!
