It is early February, and that means that another very successful Animal Farm show is behind us. What is Animal Farm, you ask? It is a 450-member user group that consists of WISP’s (Wireless Internet Service Providers) from around the world, who provide high-quality, high-speed broadband service. This service is typically provided to rural areas that are not served, or underserved, by existing providers. As usual, the show was well attended, by both members and industry vendors and it was a great success.
Animal Farm is a technical show for WISP operators. No fluffy company Power Point presentations allowed at this event. All the major company equipment providers were present with technical product presentations, on how to install and operate various systems. Focus was on providing and configuring maximum bandwidth management from tower to tower, and towers to end-user. New technology was showcased, and vendors were discussing regulatory issues, facing the industry.
Procera teamed up with its reseller partner, Powercode to provide a powerful combined operational management solution that has been drawing a great buzz within the WISP community. Animal Farm is a great forum to show technical buyers how we can help with daily operations. The Procera-Powercode “Demo Couch” was hopping all day long. Procera provided detailed overviews on how we can identify traffic and create rules and policy manage specific types of traffic, most notably streaming media. Powercode demonstrated its network operational management capability and integration with Procera to provide detailed subscriber statistics.
It was good to see several of our current WISP customers and hear them validate their decision to invest in Procera and Powercode solutions. Billing system integration, and traffic congestion management were the common topics that were discussed throughout the day. After spending some time on the “demo couch”, one large prospective customer commented, he “was stunned at the amount of detailed information that could be collected. It was exactly the solution needed to manage bandwidth consumed by streaming media.” He went on to say how he felt that he could increase customer satisfaction, increase customer retention, and create a more balanced uniform fair use policy. This was a common discussion theme that came about from the many demonstrations, conducted throughout the day. No wonder there was buzz about Procera and Powercode at the show!
