Earlier this year, I-New, a leading global MVNE that provides an “MVNO-in-a-Box” solution to MVNOs around the world, partnered with Sandvine to bring the power of service innovation to weex a newly launched MVNO in Mexico.
weex is an exciting new mobile operator that specifically targets millennials and other young subscribers and provides them the opportunity to completely customize and control their mobile services.
What does this mean for subscribers? Via the weex app on their Android or iPhone device, they have the freedom to browse and purchase multiple micro-packages of data. As shown below, some of these packages (like Spotify) are based on a data quota, while others (Social networks) can allow unlimited usage over three hours or a single day.
In addition to packages for purchase, weex also gives away free data as part of special promotions. One such example is three months of unlimited messaging from Line, Telegram, and WhatsApp for new subscribers.
Going beyond identifying the applications and helping to count their usage, Sandvine and I-New integrate with the weex app to provide subscribers with a real-time view into their usage so that they can avoid bill shock and understand when it is time for them to top up. In the screenshot below, a subscriber can see both their total daily usage, and the remaining quota for their micro-packages.
MVNOs offer some of the most innovative service offerings in the world, and weex in Mexico is doing some really cool things that Sandvine is proud to be a part of.
