Financial Analyst, Budgeting & Controls

Waterloo, Ontario

As a budgeting and controls analyst, you will be a key member of the Sandvine finance team which offers a fast paced and challenging work environment.  Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for providing critical support and analysis to multiple levels of management throughout various functional areas of the organization.  In this role, you will also be instrumental in executing the organization’s internal control compliance processes relating to CEO and CFO certifications.

This high profile position requires superior analytical aptitude and strong verbal and written communication skills with the proficiency to continually drive process improvements, efficiencies, and control compliance. You will be expected to use your business experience to assist in implementing budgeting and planning tools to drive efficiencies and add value to the organization. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing the annual budget model and administration of budget drafts, revisions, scenario analysis and review process in conjunction with functional area department heads.
  • Assisting in preparing the annual budget presentation to the Board of Directors;
  • Preparing monthly operating and capital budget to actual reporting with variance analysis;
  • Ensuring timely distribution and presentation of budget to actual information to functional area department heads on a monthly basis; 
  • Preparing rolling quarterly forecasts and related reporting and scenario analysis;
  • Working with control owners to ensure process documentation accurately reflects control processes performed.  Updating documentation for process / control changes;
  • Performing and clearly documenting control testing in accordance with Company methodology;
  • Compiling test results and co-ordinating remediation plan for review by the senior finance team.

  • University degree in business or finance, enrolment in CMA/CGA program;
  • 2-5 years of budgeting/financial analysis experience, preferably in the technology industry;
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership to meet tight quarterly deliverable deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact comfortably and effectively with all levels of the organization;
  • Demonstrated drive, dedication and a "can do" attitude, persisting to achieve and surpass goals despite obstacles;
  • Proven time management and organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, handle fluctuating workloads, and work with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.   Experience with ERP and planning systems. Ability to learn new systems quickly.
