Senior Network Engineer - Business Intelligence

Description

This position could be located in Waterloo or Toronto.

You will be responsible for leading Business Intelligence consulting engagements with Sandvine’s existing and growing customer base.  You will be responsible for creating strategic frameworks for the consistent design, creation, delivery and operation of Sandvine’s Network Business Intelligence solutions.  In order to meet customer Network Business Intelligence requirements, it is expected that you will lead the customization of Sandvine solutions that are successfully integrated into the customer’s specific technical and business environment. 

The responsibilities will be accomplished by leveraging external and internal relationships, including Sandvine’s customers, CTO Office, Product Management, Consulting Solutions Delivery, and Customer Advocacy teams.

For the various internal and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading Network Business Intelligence consulting engagements in the delivery of services associated with the Network Data Analytics product
  • Translating customer business requirements into technical requirements for Sandvine’s Network Business Intelligence solutions
  • Providing a bridge for better communications and an intimate understanding of customer Network Business Intelligence requirements between Sandvine and it’s customer base.  This includes participating in a cross-functional team within Sandvine to provide market feedback on how to extend and improve the Network Business Intelligence portfolio of products.
  • Performing in-depth as well as high-level technical presentations for existing customers, partners and prospective customers
  • Driving identified major account Network Business Intelligence opportunities, including technical consultation with customers, upper level management presentations, and delivery of Sandvine solutions while allowing local account teams to maintain long-term ownership of the customer relationship.
  • Providing support, training and mentoring to other less experienced Systems Engineers in major account opportunities.
    Understanding and being conversant about Sandvine, its competitors, technologies, solutions, product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
  • Working with the customer to identify and understand the key business metrics of their networks and how to convert those into Business Intelligence reports using Sandvine’s portfolio of products and solutions
  • Assist account teams in closing of business related to Network Business Intelligence solutions

Skills

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent (BA/BS), MBA strongly preferred
• Strong background in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation.
• 10+ years of related industry experience that includes
           o Unix/Linux administration and scripting
           o Java programming and Application server experience
           o Professional Consulting experience
           o Telecommunications and IP Networking for tier-1 service providers
           o Solid experience with MicroStrategy specifically on Internet Service provider environments
           o Database modeling and related tools
• 5+ years of experience in Dimensional and Entity-Relationship data modeling, including Database technologies.  Experience with any of:
          o Oracle 10g, 9i, 8i – Administration, installation, PL/SQL programming and dimensional data modeling
          o MySQL, Postgres, Sybase and SQL Server
• 5+ years of experience with writing and/or using ETL Tools such as DTS Microsoft
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills.

• Master of Business Administration degree (MBA)
• Outstanding communication skills on at least one major language (tri-lingual preferred)
• Experience as a DBA (Database Administrator) and DA (Data Administrator)
• Team management, mentoring and project management
